2026 - Team Ratings After Round 3
/MoSHBODS changed the ranking of 10 teams this week, flipping five pairs, but leaving the Top 5 unchanged. No team moved by more than a single spot.
MARS moved eight teams and also did that by simply switching pairs of teams, and also left its Top 3 intact, swapping the Lions into 4th ahead of the Cats.
MoSHBODS RATINGS
Overall, MoSHBODS still has only nine teams rated as above average.
On the Component Ratings, on offence we find MoSHBODS still with a Top 3 of Dogs, Hawks, and Suns, while on defence it has a Top 3 of Pies, Crows, and Suns. Twelve teams are rated as above average on offence and only seven on defence.
Offensive ratings currently span a range of 1.39 standard deviations (up) and defensive ratings a range of 0.91 standard deviations (down). The standard deviation of offensive ratings across all teams is 0.37 and that for defensive ratings 0.31. Teams therefore remain more differentiated by their offensive abilities than their defensive abilities,
The correlation between the teams’ MoSHBODS offensive and defensive Ratings now stands at +0.79, which is about the same as last week.
MARS RATINGS
MARS now only has nine teams rated better-than-average, after which there is GWS at 998.8, and Melbourne at 997.
The gap from 1st to 2nd is 5.7 Rating Points (unchanged), from 1st to 4th is 12. Rating Points (down), and from 1st to 10th is 31.8 Rating Points (up).
Across all 18 teams, the Ratings span 64.3 Rating Points, the mean is 1,000 Rating Points, and the standard deviation is 19.9 Rating Points, up from 19.3 Rating Points last week.
COMPARISON OF MOSHBODS AND MARS
