2026 - Round 0 Results - Promising
/In some seasons, your start sets you up to play catch-up for at least the next few rounds. Mercifully, this season won’t be one of them.
Three of the early week favourites were successful this week, which saw all but three of our Head-to-Head Tipsters recording that score. The outliers were the new MARS_Marg algorithm who now leads the field on four, and Consult The Ladder and MoSHBODS_Marg who trail the field on two.
The all-Tipster average score came in at 2.9 from 5.
Margin prediction was around average and very consistent across all Predictors, with just 10 points separating 1st from last. Best was MoSHPlay_Marg, whose mean average error (MAE) of 30.3 points per game was just under 0.2 points per game better than next best, ENS_Linear. Bookie_Hcap recorded the worst MAE this week at 32.3 points per game.
The all-Predictor average was 31.4 points per game.
Log probability scores were all positive this week for the MoS-based forecasters, and all negative for the bookie-based forecasters. Best was newcomer MARS_Prob and worst was Bookie_RE.
WAGERING
The round started badly and ended wonderfully, and eventually saw the Combined Portfolio in profit the week, as both the Head-to-Head and Line Funds made money.
Overall, the Combined Portfolio finished up by 3c from a +23% ROI on a 0.13 turn.
