Below is the latest Ranking on Dashboard Metrics table, which shows that Port Adelaide are unlucky to not be in the Top 10, with the Dogs perhaps undeservedly taking their places.

The metrics currently most rank correlated with ladder position are:

  • MoS Win Production Function: +0.93

  • Own Points per Game: +0.91

  • Own Goals per Game: +0.89

  • Own Scoring Shots per Game: +0.89

  • Percent of Quarters Won: +0.88

  • Q2 Performances: +0.79

  • Q3 Performances: +0.74

Those least rank correlated with ladder position are:

  • Q4 Performances: +0.37

  • Q1 Performances: +0.47

Next, here’s the latest top half of the Team Dashboard, which shows, among other things, that:

  • Sydney have scored about 100 points more than any other team, and about 180 more than second-placed Fremantle

  • Sydney and Fremantle have conceded about 15 goals fewer than any other team

  • North Melbourne and Fremantle have scored the same number of goals

  • Only 88 behinds have been recorded against Hawthorn

  • Only five teams have a winning streak of three games or more

  • Only three teams have a losing streak of three games or more

  • Across the last two weeks, six teams have won both games, six have lost both games, and six have won one and lost one

  • Port Adelaide have recorded about 2.4 wins fewer than would be expected giving their scoring statistics

  • West Coast have yet to win a Q1

  • Fremantle, Hawthorn, and Sydney are now the only teams to have outscored their opponents in all four quarters
