MatterOfStats 2017 : Team Dashboard for Round 17

The latest Team Dashboard appears below and this week I'll confine the analysis to a handful of observations:

• The correlation between the teams' competition ladder rankings and their rankings on scoring shot conversion is just +0.14.
• Richmond (5th) have registered only 5 more goals than the Brisbane Lions (18th), and fewer goals than every other team in 1st through 10th, as well as Collingwood (13th), Gold Coast (14th), and the Kangaroos (17th).
• Melbourne (7th) are the only team in the Top 8 that's conceded over 200 goals.
• The records since Round 7 of the teams currently in the Top 8 are
  • Adelaide: 6-0-4
  • Geelong: 6-1-3
  • GWS: 5-2-3
  • Port Adelaide: 6-0-4
  • Richmond: 5-0-5
  • Sydney: 9-0-1
  • Melbourne: 6-0-4
  • West Coast: 5-0-5

Collectively, excluding Sydney, the teams currently in the Top 8 have only a 58% winning rate since Round 7.
