MatterOfStats 2015 : Team Dashboard for Round 8

MatterOfStats' own Win Production Function now has it that eight teams have won or lost about a game or more than their Scoring Shot data would justify:

  • Fremantle has won 1.3 games more than the data suggest
  • The Brisbane Lions have won 0.8 games more
  • The Kangaroos have also won 0.8 games more
  • Hawthorn have won 2.6 games fewer
  • Collingwood have won 0.9 games fewer
  • The West Coast has also won 0.9 games fewer

That Win Production Function has the same top 8 teams as those currently sitting in Finals positions on the competition ladder, but in a different order, viz:

  1. West Coast
  2. Fremantle
  3. Hawthorn
  4. Collingwood
  5. Sydney
  6. GWS
  7. Adelaide
  8. Richmond

Looking at the Quarter-to-Quarter Performance Data reveals that:

  • Only two teams have perfect records for any single quarter, the Hawks and the Eagles both yet to lose a 3rd Quarter.
  • Only three teams have outscored their opponents, in aggregate, in every quarter: Collingwood, Sydney and West Coast. Fremantle and GWS just miss out on being on this list as both have scored the same number or points as their opponents in one of the quarters, Freo in final terms and GWS in 1st terms.
