2016 - Round 7 Results - If You Can't Rely on the Saints on Sunday ...

Once the Tigers lost on Friday night, and by just enough to bury our line bet along with our head-to-head and overs/unders wagers, it was always going to be difficult to finish the weekend in the black.

In the end, we didn't, but for a brief time in the final term of the Saints v Roos game it looked as though we might, as the Saints drew level and seemed capable of landing the upset victory. But, ultimately, they fell seven points short, which meant that, at the final reckoning, the Head-to-Head Fund dropped 4c on a 2 from 5 performance, the Line Fund rose 1.8c on a 4 from 5 performance, and the Overs/Unders Fund fell 4.2c on a 1 from 4 performance. In aggregate, that amounted to a 1.7c loss for the Overall Portfolio, leaving it up now by 23.3c on the season.

TIPS AND PREDICTIONS

It was yet another good week for MoS' Tipsters and Predictors, the Head-to-Head Tipsters recording an average 7.2 from 9 result, headed by a range of Tipsters bagging 8, MoSSBODS_Marg included, which left it atop the Leaderboard and now on 49 from 63 (78%), 3 tips clear of the field.

Best amongst the Margin Predictors was ENS_Greedy_MoS, whose 22.4 points per game mean absolute error (MAE) was enough to propel it into 3rd on the MoS Ladder. That ladder remains headed by MoSSBODS_Marg, despite its only recording the 4th-best MAE of the round of 25.1 points per game. The all-Predictor MAE this week was 26.6 points per game per Predictor - surprisingly low, I thought, given the blowout results in a few of the games.

For the Head-to-Head Probability Predictors, it was a week in which C_Prob prevailed, its performance good enough to move it to 1st on the MoS ladder, relegating MoSSBODS_Prob into 2nd. Both of those Predictors maintain a healthy lead over the three bookmaker-based Predictors, however.

It truly is panning out as an amazing year ...
